Stations Tour

Ankola Station
Ankola is a small town with 15th century ruined walls of king Sarpamalika's fort and the ancient Shri Venketaraman Temple. Near the temple there are two giant wooden chariots carved with scenes from the 'Ramayana'.

Ankola is a typical small town near the coast and makes a good overnight stop and a good base to discover the coastline. Just a few kilometres away from the town through the village of Bhelakeri is a huge flat cliff top overlooking miles of deserted sandy beaches - probably not suitable for sunbathing.

Ankola is also home to very famous temple of Lakshminarayana Mahamaya Temple, which is the chief diety of many Goud Saraswat Brahmins belonging to South Canada and Udupi Districts.
Among many beaches, it has a famous beach called Belikeri Beach. The rock face top is used as a giant fish drying area; attractive to see fish and workers but, less attractive to smell. Definitely worth going to. Some of the Popular places to visit in Ankola are:
