Mapusa is a small town on the National Highway 17. It is a capital of Bardez Taluka. Mapusa city is closest to all popular beaches in Goa.it is also the largest town in northern Goa.
The Friday Market is held outside Mapusa Municipal market. You can shop here for local fruits, plants, vegetables and spices from Goa and elsewhere. Women from surrounding villages come here specially to sell their wares in the Friday Market.
in recent years new shops have come in tailored to the backpackers and the charter tourists. . Thus in the entrance of the market one finds several stalls selling trinkets and other articles often picked up by foreign travelers as souvenirs.
The Mapusa Church, located on St. Jerome Road, past Asilo Hospicio, which is actually the St. Jerome's Church, is better known as the Church of Our Lady of Milagres.
